Super

February 4th, 2008 …Tuesday I’d like to take this opportunity to encourage everyone to vote tomorrow, even if it’s not for Barack Obama. Tuesday, a huge percentage of our country gets a chance to make their voices heard, and shape each party’s nominations this summer. I’m not a big McCain guy (due mainly to his military policies and his economic record), but I think he and Obama are the two best candidates from each party.

I think a match-up between those two candidates will go a long way towards giving people a clear choice for Iraq’s future, the future of our economy, our healthcare system, and in a more general sense, a fresh start versus the status quo. Anyway, it doesn’t matter to me who you vote for, as long as you vote. Make a difference in what could be the most important election of your life. …delegates On a somewhat related note (and keeping with the ’super’ theme), here’s an interesting article about what could very well determine the Democratic nominee this year – Superdelgates.

It’s an interesting and slightly confusing system that allows Democratic govenors, former heads of state, and congressmen/women a say in who becomes the nominee for their party in the general election every 4 years. This was started as a safety valve in case the delegate chosen by the people isn’t what the powers-that-be see as their best shot at victory in November. ‘Democratic’ Not really. But it’s their prerogative.

As long as they go Obama’s way (which right now the ones that have pledged are not generally going to), I’ll be fine.
