Matador Records, home to Interpol, Yo La Tengo, Belle Sebastian and many others, is the first indie record company to have its content available on iTunes. good to see the indies coming aboard now. for those that don’t know, the iTunes Music Store is a way to buy songs online for .99 a track, or 9.99 an album.
it’s a great “instant gratification” method of getting a hold of music you want to hear, but don’t want to pay an arm and a leg for at the store (or you just don’t want to drive to the store for) so, since the prices are all the same for every album out there, this will be a nice way for some of the underdogs to get a fair shake, and maybe boost their sales.
